Tokajicum Edes Szamorodni review - WineUncorked: Wine Reviews and Tips

This Hungarian Tokaji dessert wine is a szamorodni, which means that rather than only using specifically picked grapes that are botrytised (shrivelled with the botrytis fungus known as ‘noble rot’), the rest of the grape bunch is picked too and the wine is made with this. So it becomes slightly cheaper to make and the flavours aren’t quite so intense as a full Tokaji wine. There’s still the Seville orange marmalade flavours but it is matched with sharp apple and lemon, plus there’s a distinct glue aroma and flavour going on. Worth trying once.
