El Gran Jefe Rioja 2022 review - WineUncorked: Wine Reviews and Tips

co op

Excellent value Spanish red even at £10. The Co-op really knows how to pick some great wines with bags of flavour that you won’t find anywhere else. This Rioja oozes fruity flavours: Morello cherry, strawberry and sharp redcurrant. Followed by smooth almond, coffee, chocolate and violets. But you’ll have to pour the wine into another container to decant it to get all of these amazing flavours, as well as leaving it to warm up to room temperature if you’re bottle has been stored in a British winter temperature kitchen. A lovely wine. Worth seeking out.
