A top wine in a can that tastes of what you’d expect with the can not coming between you and your taste buds. This is a recent innovation. Not all wines in cans seem to have cottoned on to this yet but slowly and surely the tide is turning for the extinction of wines in cans that taste naff. Villa Maria’s New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc has refreshing lime and passionfruit flavours. Being picky, there is missing a touch of extra sharpness which would make it a 5* typical Sauvignon, but you can’t get everything from a can – just yet. Perhaps by next year the canning process will have come on again.
