Aldi’s own version of this is also in the £18 mark and so although the bottle price seems over the top for what is just a vino, the price is what you’d expect for a wine that carries the name Chateauneuf. But what can you expect from this Rhone Valley white made from a blend of Grenache Blanc and Roussane grape varieties? There’s a melon richness with a lightly oaky background, matched with a steeliness and a green parsley flavour. There’s more fruit too: apple, peach and fresh lemon. A nice wine in a heavy and embossed bottle.
