French Chablis is generally expensive (over £10 a bottle) and it will taste lemony and flinty but this version from Asda is rather disappointing. The lemon is there on the taste, but rather watery, and so’s the flintiness but it’s rather more like a dose of citric acid than a balanced addition. Simple flavours that can be beaten at half the price (try Wolf Blass Yellow Label Chardonnay, £7 to £8.99 available many supermarkets).
