The name Chateauneuf-du-Pape has rather a caché so of course the price goes up. It’s a perfumed fruity wine with flavours of cherry, spice, coffee and black treacle. There is some sharpness on the flavour which makes it difficult to taste too sickly – so slurp away! At just under £20 a bottle this is a good price to get such a premium wine.
