If you are looking for a bargain then wait until Sainsbury’s has a Buy 6 and Save 25% wine deal going. Then the bottle price comes down from £6.25 to £4.69 – and then the price reflects what’s in the bottle. It tastes okay – a little thin but there is a fruity flavour with some spice. So it’s not the rich, fruity tasting experience that Rioja wines used to be – but then that’s price inflation for you. The five pound bottle of wine is still out there but the taste is getting more and more watery. I hate to say it but paying £7+ for a bottle is getting to be the only way of getting any decent plonk these days.
