Mencia is the grape variety and is the Spanish version of French Pinot Noir, so Beaujolais wines are a similar taste profile. Light cherry flavours along with raisins and violets. There is some sharpness too so it’s not a wine for you if you like ‘em sweet and jammy. Interesting to try if only for the show off value as you realise no one else will have heard of it.
