August 2022 WineUncorked Newsletter
When was the last time you tried a Hock? This German white wine is cheap, tastes like wine and has a low alcohol content of just 9%. If you can get past the old-fashioned wine bottles with label designs that seemed designed to put you off, and topped with cheap looking screwcaps, then inside you’ll find some light and fruity wine. The latest article on Top supermarket Hock wines under £5 gives the low down – and a top five-star recommendation to buy.
I’ve been using the hot weather as an incentive to stay inside and catch-up on writing wine reviews of the all the wines that supermarkets and retailers are kind enough to supply free to WineUncorkedHQ. But there are times when wine is bought through normal retail outlets, either online or in stores. But I don't mention in the review whether the wine is one bought with my own money or one I've been given to try because it makes no difference to how I review or rate it.
In the Latest wine reviews section below I’ve collated the latest Wine Society reviews and those from independent retailer Wickhams.
For more suggestions on what to drink right now then head over to the wine reviews section of the website or read on further in the newsletter for the choicest wines.
And if all this hot weather is getting too much for you then how about forward thinking to autumn when the next online wine course with Buckinghamshire Adult Learning starts which I’ll be tutoring. Book now if you want to get ahead. Course starts Tuesday 4 October and is 8-weeks long.
