A perfectly pleasant, though not exciting, white Spanish Rioja in Sainsbury’s Taste the Difference range. Get £1.50 off if you use a Nectar card – but even then it’s rather expensive for what it delivers: steely apple and lychee flavours with some fresh pear and pineapple. Nice enough but there are so many quaffing white wines out there at below this price, so why choose this one? Try Asda’s Le Manoir du Baron Viognier at £4.94.
