Marques de Valencia Gran Reserva 2013 review - WineUncorked: Wine Reviews and Tips

virgin

Only the two-bottle size is left (a magnum) of this great tasting Rioja-style red that tastes like it should be a Rioja but comes from a Spanish region further on down (so is a bit cheaper). But it’s made with the same expected grapes found in a Riojan red – Tempranillo – and the flavour is initially Port like with liquorice and raisin, and then becomes fruity with plum and blackberry with some redcurrant sharpness. There’s even toffee and dark chocolate and then later on some vegetabliness. Complex stuff.
