Co-op California Rosé 2020 White Zinfandel review - WineUncorked: Wine Reviews and Tips

co op

A great value rosé with simple and tasty flavours of strawberry tart. Made with the red grape variety Zinfandel, the extra labelling of ‘White Zinfandel’ on what is a rosé wine is not there to confuse you deliberately but is in fact an aspect of marketing history. During the 1970s rosé wine was not as popular as now and so to ensure good sales numbers it was found that labelling a rosé as a white wine helped get it off the shelf. And so despite this wine’s light red colour it is classed as a pink rosé and not a red or a white. Got it?
