The red-skinned Romanian grape variety of Feteasca Neagra makes a lovely fruity wine that just gets better and better the longer it is opened – which means taking your time drinking it. But sit back and enjoy the complex plum and milk chocolate flavours that have both a dash of fresh blackcurrant and a slight earthiness. Its deep purple colour is enjoyable in itself. But then as this wine takes about 4-5 hours to get to its best after opening the screwcap then you’ll be able to analyse it for yourself. Look out for other wines made with this grape variety: Waitrose, Laithwaites, Tanners and other independents all stock wines from Romania made with this grape type.
