This Spanish sparkling has some years under its belt as it was made in 2017. That makes it a Vintage Cava – the term being applied to sparkling wines with a specific year on the label rather than showing none, which is termed a Non-Vintage (NV). Those extra years add honey and digestive biscuit flavours to the wine and turn it from light yellow to a gold colour. You’ll find similar flavours in vintage Champagne – but at five times the price. If you’re looking for a simple fizz with simple flavours then this isn’t the wine for you – buy a Prosecco instead.
