British wine - that sold in supermarkets for about £4 a bottle and made from imported grape juice -  is not to be confused with English wine made with English grapes and is currently celebrating its annual promotional week explaining how English wine tastes great. But British wine is still hanging around and tastes awful. It really does. But why is it still here? There’s still time to book next week’s online wine tasting that I’m tutoring with Buckinghamshire Adult Learning on Thursday 30th June Summer Refreshment: Rosé v White Wine. There’s also Tuesday 12th July Red Wine Taste-off: Supermarket Own Wine v Big-name Brand. We’ll also enjoy some chocolate and a packet of crisps along the way. These evening class hobby courses will allow you the opportunity to sip and learn online and are primarily for Buckinghamshire residents and cost £14 per person.

Look out for the latest budget wine review. There’s Asda’s Nice Drop range £3.75-£4.50 and Morrisons under-£5 range joining Tesco’s Chilean Lateral £3.99 wines.

On the listening front I’m continuing to enjoy the Wine 101 podcast hosted by VinePair. These 15-minute talks by VinePair’s Tasting Director Keith Beavers are designed for an American audience, but once you get used to Keith’s 1970s style dude talking manner then you’ll find some great nuggets like Does price correspond to quality?
