I’m tutoring two more one-off evening wine tastings with Buckinghamshire Adult Learning on Thursday 30th June and Tuesday 12th July. We’ll discover and taste wines together and decide if they get the thumbs up as well as enjoying some chocolate and a packet of crisps along the way. These evening class hobby courses will allow you the opportunity to sip and learn online and are primarily for Buckinghamshire residents and cost £14 per person.
Each wine course is designed as an online class in a glass where anyone with an interest in wine can log on and learn with other wine enthusiasts.
Summer refreshment is what the 30th June class is all about. It’s a rosé v white wine taste off with a American rosé from California and a white wine from Australia. We’ll have a go at describing the aromas and flavours found in each glass and decide, with the aid of a few squares of milk chocolate, whether a sweet treat matches each wine.
It’ll be a red wine taste-off on the 12th July with a supermarket own-label up against a big-name brand. Will the Australian red wine that’s got the name of the supermarket on the label beat a big-name brand such as Jacob’s Creek, Yellow Tail, McGuigan, Hardys, Lindeman’s or Oxford Landing? I’ll guide you through the professional tasting technique which we’ll use to decide which wine wins. And if that’s not lip-smacking enough then a packet of salty crisps will get our taste buds tingling and enhance the flavours of the wines.
At the end of each evening you’ll have the knowledge and confidence to choose and buy wines you enjoy. Each course is for anyone with an interest in wine. No prior knowledge is required – book a place on one or both courses. They’ll be more online wine courses with Buckinghamshire Adult Learning in the autumn of 2022 starting Tuesday 4th October and Tuesday 17th January 2023.
The cost of wine is not covered by the course fee and you will need to purchase the wines to be covered during each class - two wines per evening session - expect to spend between £5.00 and £12.00 a bottle. These will not be specific wines from a specific retailer but wines that can be found in many places and at various prices.
