May 2022 WineUncorked Newsletter

May is great month for wine enthusiasts. Not only is the Co-op’s 5-star rated Irresistible Chilean 30 degree Pinot Noir latest 2021 vintage now available (up 50p to £7.50) but Morrisons offers the best value for getting in the wines for the next WineUncorked online tasting on Thursday 12 May at 7pm.

It’ll be a taste-off between English white wine v French white wine: Which tastes better? and a bottle of English Chapel Down Flint Dry £7.50 (down from £14 until July 17 at Morrisons) and a bottle of French Terre et Vignes Sauvignon Blanc at just £5 would make great comparisons.

But these aren’t the only wines that would make great tasting companions for the tasting. Here at WineUncorked we don’t prescribe specific wines to bring along to our monthly online tastings, but make suggestions on suitable types. Check out the handy guide Wines for the WineUncorked May 2022 online English v French white tasting and booking couldn’t be easier.

And there’s even more to look forward to as there’s a new event date added for June with Cheese and wine matching: Let’s all shout ‘hard cheese!’ on the usual second Thursday of the month at 7pm which is 9th June. Booking is through the same webpage as May’s English v French tasting. Tickets still just £14/household. In the mean time take a look at Wine Q&A: What wine matches cheese?

If you live in Buckinghamshire then you can also take advantage of the one-night only online evening tastings through Buckinghamshire Adult Learning I’ll be tutoring: Thursday 30th June Summer Refreshment: Rosé v White Wine and Tuesday 12 July Red Wine Taste-off: Supermarket own-wine v Big-name brand. Booking now at £14/person (concessions £7), 7pm-8.30pm online.

Bargain hunters can check out my latest whole range review of Tesco’s £3.99 Chilean Lateral wine range, and they are pretty good with some 5-stars among them, but there’s more to come with Asda’s £3.99-ish Nice Drop range. This 10-bottle world wine range actually varies in price from £3.75 to £4.50 a bottle and contains some great and unique wines. Come back to next week when the write-up will be there after I’ve finished reviewing the last two wines this weekend.
